What Train Are You On?

Listen to the Podcast

Years ago when I was living in New York I often used the subway system to reach my destinations. This experience certainly kept me conscious since if I wasn't I could easily end up where I least expected to be. I remember one time taking the train to Manhattan. I got so involved in a conversation that I took the wrong train and I ended up in Brooklyn. Although part of New York it was a place I'd never been before. It felt really weird and certainly not what I had planned when I began my journey.

It came to me today that this is a perfect metaphor for our lives. We are filled with dreams that we want so much to make a reality and somewhere, somehow we often lose sight of these dreams. Like in my Manhattan - Brooklyn experience, we hop on the train that will ultimately take us to our dreams becoming a reality and somewhere in between we change trains and end up in a different place.
Doesn't it make sense that to reach ones destination
we should stay on the train of mind that will keep us on track?

As an ancient Chinese proverb says:

"If you are headed in the right direction, just keep on walking."

Why change trains in the middle of your trip just because the one you are on is a bit too noisy...or because you feel you have lost your way? I challenge you today to decide where you want to go and then hop on that train and stay put until you reach your destination. If not now - when?
