As we have mentioned, "walking the talk" or leading by example is a prerequisite for true leadership in the world today. The old, worn out saying, "do as I say, not as I do" just doesn't cut it any longer. Credibility, the evidence of what is being taught, must be illustrated by anyone who wants to inspire meaningful change in the lives of others.
Does this mean that we should wait until we have tangible evidence that we have achieved what we are endeavoring to teach? Not necessarily...in fact, probably not! As we said before, "the teacher is the best student." Why is that?
The answer lies in the concept of flow. If we are teaching anything we are focusing all our attention on the subject, absorbing it and allowing it to flow through us to our audience. This means we are exposed to the material on a deeper level than those that will receive it...notwithstanding the higher learning that comes about at the intuitive level.
It is entirely possible to be no more than one "lesson" ahead of your students when you begin teaching. We are certain there are many school teachers who experience this frequently. We need only have the desire to share the teaching to "step up to the plate."
If your desire is to run a home-based business for example, perhaps one where you are recruiting distributors to sell products, you need only sell one product to be one "lesson" ahead of your student-distributors. This might sound a little scary, but once you try it - even telling your new recruit that you are a newbie yourself - you'll soon find out how much faster you both grow, having a lot of fun in the process because there is no "stress to impress" when you are on the same "base" together.
This makes you a credible mentor-teacher-leader-coach the day after you learn and put into action the first lesson, the "first baby step" yourself.
